The Center for Writing & Rhetoric will continue to offer entirely virtual services throughout Spring 2021.

Students can now use WC Online to schedule:

  • Synchronous online appointments: Work with a consultant through online videoconferencing; or
  • Asynchronous email review appointments: Submit papers for review and receive comments via WC Online and/or email.

    Please read carefully the instructions in your confirmation email.

If you cannot attend your appointment, you must cancel at least 12 hours in advance to give the opportunity for another student to use that spot.

The CWR is always open to critique andrecognizes itselfas a space that still exists withinaninstitution that is structuredaroundStandard American English. In the spirit of our ongoing commitment to develop our learning community’s pedagogy towards inclusive practices and programming, we have adopted and published our evolving Anti-Discrimination Commitments. 

In solidarity with movements against state-sanctioned violence and anti-Black racism such as the Black Lives Matter movement, the CWR acknowledges the relationship betweenlanguage and systems of oppression. As consultants at the writing center, we commit to holding ourselves accountable, intervening productively in situations ofdiscrimination and racism. Our approach to tutorship is collaborative andwe work withrespectforstudents’individualagency and expertise. We take seriouslyouropportunities to combathowdiscriminationis perpetuatedthrough structures of academic language. 

The CWR makes the commitment to anti-racist practice and pedagogy through affirmation, solidarity, and a commitment to opennesstodialogue and critique. We acknowledge that the CWR is a space for learning and growth, forbothour consultants and our students.
